This is what happens if something spooks you while driving fast in an MR2. *Whooooops that’s a slide!*
I really enjoyed making this GIF. I’d like to compile a “top 10" (or “top however many y’all are afraid of”) list of scary cars since this week ends on Halloween. I’ll also have a scary story about my MR2 in the list that I haven’t shared here yet.
What’s the scariest car you’ve ever driven?

Skoda Felicia diesel.
biggest piece of shit i’ve ever had the misfortune to drive, crashed it in the UK in 2000, and when in Scotland it tried throwing me off 2 other roads.

I once test drove a 2004 Nissan Maxima, with no traction control, non-functional ABS, on bald summer tires, in January, on slushy snowy roads, while it was sleeting. Never has 265 horsepower seemed more powerful than in those moments. I could spin the tires at literally any speed if I went wide open throttle.

It wasn’t a scary car by itself but my mother previous car, a Citroën Berlingo had old winter tires that were quite used especially in the rear (it was around the thread wear indicator or not much over it if i recall correctly ) and i did loose the rear on a roundabout without expecting it at all (it was dry and in the summer ).

A car without snow tires in blizzard. Though my Previa was more fun than scary if it got caught in the snow before it go its snow tires on.

Chevy Express work truck that my employer was in ZERO hurry to fix the wipers on. “Just use Rain-X” they said in the meantime .
Same van later had the washer circuit fail during a Michigan winter ( after the wipers were fixed) , and we were told to keep a bottle of windex handy to spray the windshield at red lights. I suckered a coworker into driving one day so that I could get this pic of the bottle thawing over the defroster.
I don’t work there anymore.

Throw a 225/255 rubber combo at that thing and it’s a lot more hesitant to slide

Was it the supercharged one???

No, just the regular one (a ‘91, before the supercharger was an option). But really driving anything faster than about 15mph was enough to get fishtailing with snow on the roads, so you didn’t need much power to play in the snow.

I once drove a mid 2010s Honda Civic and I was horrified at how boring it was. Other than that, ummm, I drove a similar coupe briefly and had a similar reaction.

My Sentra when I fi rst got it, with bald, dry rotted tires in the rain was pretty terrifying. A single drop of rain would cause it to hydroplane

1st gen Lexus RX300 in a downpour. I think I’d rather have been held at gunpoint than in that driver’s seat.

A Grumman van at highway speeds. 45 straight minutes of pucker.

My uncle’s drag Chevelle. It’s awesomely terrifying. It’s got a 406 SBC making probably around 500 HP, fat slicks on the back and skinnies up front.
Oh, it’s also a clapped out rattle trap with drum brakes all the way around, worn out suspension bits, and he welded the rear carrier, turning it into a solid axle.
So going fast in a straight line is no problem, its the turning and stopping at any speeds that’s terrifying .

What was so bad about it? Those were usually inoffensively boring to drive.

I drove a 93 Mustang GT convertible through the Texas Thanksgiving blizzard of ‘ 93, remembered in the annals of history by Leon Lett’s boneheaded attempt to recover a blocked kick.

It felt like piloting a jello mold.
In the dry, inoffensive. In the severe wet, frightening.

Huh, I never would have guessed. Did it just have terrible tires?

They may not have helped, but I feel all the ‘luxurious softness’ baked into the steering and chassis was more core to the problem.

I thought they were supposed to be America’s safest car statistically. May be because no one is confident enough in their handling to exceed 15 mph.

Maybe it’s good it had high crash safety ratings since driving one felt so sketchy. ;)
